I have wanted to make this blanket since I first came across the pattern, so when I found out I was pregnant I knew this would be my baby’s blanket. I love working with Tanis Fiber Arts yarn and she had just released a new colour palette called the nursery palette. One look and I knew this was the perfect pairing. The colours in the palette are sunset, iris, atlantic, sea breeze, lemongrass, gold, chris grey and natural. I have decided to make all of the borders in natural and have the centres a different colour, so I added in orange blossom to give me an even number of squares. At the moment I have one of each colour square completed and I am so pleased. I have just over a month until baby 2 arrives so I am confident I can complete this. I can make a square in an evening and I’m aiming to have have 16 squares, so I’m half way there. Another couple of weeks and I will be done. I really love this version of vivid by tincanknits, that uses natural for the borders and the signature palette by TFA and served as the inspiration for my blanket.
It’s done!!!! I love it so much and am already planning to make more. The next pics I post will have a baby wrapped up in it :)
Here’s a bit of yarn math to figure how much yarn I used for the blanket. My blanket is 30 inches square. The centres took about 15yards and the borders take around 23yards. One square is just under 40 yards in total. I used the full skein of natural included in the palette and 3/4 of another skein(about a skein and but in total) I used
less than half of the other colours. By my calculations one TFA palette would make 26 block blanket.
