Found this Drops pattern after started the Crochet Pinwheel Sweater with the worst instructions EVER!!! It was very difficult to find a Crochet Pinwheel pattern because it’s usually knitted so I was excited to find some instructions for crochet, but the directions were not good.

Anyways, I decided to modify this Drops pattern to work with the DC pinwheel circle I already started. The armholes were challenging but I calculated the correct formulas and designed a way to keep growing the circle while maintaining the same DC pinwheel look. I’ll update with Pinwheel instructions later. Once I DC around to a 13” circle (for size Small), I started to follow the Drops pattern for the sides.

Finished the pinwheel circle with armholes. Don’t have enough yarn so may just keep as vest. The Drops pattern for the sides of the jacket is EXTREMELY difficult to understand so I modified the stitch count and calculated the sides as follows. I also switched to TR to create a more flowy front.

LEFT FRONT PIECE - ALL SIZES (switched to TR for front piece):
End with 288 DC. Jacket circle measures about 80” circumference, 13” radius.
Divide: 12” top and bottom, 26.4” each side.
Divide the 288 DC as follows: do not work top and bottom: 46 DC (12”), mark for each side: 98 DC (26.4”). This totals 288 DC
Within the 98 DC, divide as follows: insert marker at 28 DC, count 42 DC then insert marker, count 28 DC to next marker
The front piece will be now worked back and forth separately over the 98 sts on each side (leaving the bottom 46 sts and the top 46 sts unworked) see front pieces on measurement chart. Insert 2 markers 28 sts from each side = count 42 sts, add a marker here, count 28 sts, add a marker here.
First row: Increase 1 st at each marker (= 2 sts increased) alternately before and after markers and at the same time decrease at the beg and end of row as FOLLOWS:
Work tr until 3 tr remain, * in the first of these 3 remaining tr, work 1 dc, in the next 1 hdc and in the last 1 sc, turn with ch 1, skip sc, work 1 sl st in hdc and 1 sl st in dc, then 1 sc in first tr, 1 hdc in next tr and 1 dc in next tr, work tr until 3 tr remain at end of row *

Repeat from - on each row. Work a total of 6-8-12 rows back and forth for each front.

Note: For the 2 increases on rows 2-6, add the increase stitch (by crocheting 2 tr in the same stitch) on top of the increase in the previous row so you don’t have to keep track of markers.

By decreasing at the beg and end and increasing at markers, each side of the front will then be rounded with dec and inc at markers will give the correct shape.

TO FINISH crochet a row around the entire piece as follows: join yarn at top of piece, * chain 3, double crochet into the same stitch, skip a stitch, single crochet into the next stitch * Repeat - around.

Out of yarn so leaving it as a vest. I guess they discontinued this color so can’t buy anymore to add sleeves.
