The silhouette of this sweater looks terrific on everyone who made it, but also there are dissatisfactions with the cardigan style. So I’m making a pullover knit in the round. The sweater is a lot more figure-flattering than these pictures suggest (the pictures make the sweater look a wide and stout…must be the angle.)
Knitting from the top down, with a rolled neckline. The sweater looks fantastic, with the added bonus that it is terrific for maternity wear. Knit in this cotton, the ribs expand as needed for my growing belly.
actual gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows per 4”
Neckline
Tubular cast-on of 86 sts using #10 needles. Once established, switch to #7 needles and work 5 rows.
Place markers: 10 sts for each sleeve and 33 sts for front&back total: 86 sts.
Shoulders
Knit in the round, increasing at either side of markers every other row 12 times 34 sts sleeves/57 front&back; 182 total.
Increase every fourth row 6 times 46 sts sleeves/69 sts front&back; 230 total.
Increase every other row 4 times on the front&back; increase every fourth row 2 times for the sleeves 50 sts sleeves/77 sts front&back; 254 total.
Divide for body, casting on 8 sts under each arm. Total 270 stitches.
Chest
K 4 inches (about 28 rows).
…
Hmm. I didn’t keep any more notes than this. But from this point the ribbing starts and the pattern would be relatively easy to follow from the original instructions. Try it!
