A test for Julie
Textured winter sky…

13/12 all done, blocking now, photo’s soon!
16/12 blocked and dry, terrible light… more photo’s to come!

This is it,
’le pull’,
’mon maxi cosi’
the want-to-wear-always one.
Beautifully oversized.
Understated and chic.
Cozy and comfy.
Perfectly ample.

The very detailed pattern, providing a lengthy project with fresh shaping techniques, has been worked out row per row, as the textured herringbone-motif demands special attention.

The yarn I chose for this test is a bit on the hairy and bulky side during the knitting, washing and blocking flattens and smooths the fabric though, and brings out the best of the alpaca : drape and softness, the single ply provides a pearly shine.

Working this project was like a softly humming a song, droning a peaceful mantra, precious finger yoga, a daily poem. The herringstitch has plenty of lyrical rythm to it, reflecting perhaps the tidal waves of a blue grey sea or my childhood winter sky. Vermeer blue. Bruegel snow.

Thank you lovely Julie ‘la chaleureuse’.
