Notes

This stashed yarn is the perfect color for a wedding gift for a good friend. I have beads as well. Though not intended to be worn with her bridal attire, it will be a nice memento and I know how much she wanted something I had made.

Started the transition (Chart 3) after 4 repeats of the broadleaf (Chart 2). I like the size I’m seeing in this project:

I will be following the same amount of pattern repeats, though I am currently undecided on a bind off. This is only my third ever lace project, and my first beaded lace shawl. I can’t say enough good things about the Verna-X Beadle Needle. Makes things easy-peasy!

Completed transition and first repeat of the tiny leaves of chart 4. I’ve used approximately 35 gms of beads at this point.

Off the needles with a picot bind off. Here’s what I did:

Completed through Row 7 of the little leaves for a total of 2.5 repeats. Using knitted cast on, CO 3 then bound off 4 in traditional bind off method, followed up with 7 using K2tg TBL; place stitch back on left needle until next stitch above the bead. So the first and last picots are on the tips and are 2 stitches closer in spacing than the rest. I wanted those picots on the ends of my shawl, so I finagled it.

I used approximately 65g of beads, placed per pattern recommendations and I had less than 2 yards of this yarn left. Will block with wires as much as I can and add photos then.

This is only my third lace project and 2nd crescent shaped shawl with a garter tab start. I loved it and will do more patterns from this designer in the future. It was well written and the flexibility makes it so much fun!
