Notes

Hooked this at a different gauge but the designer listed measurements that allowed me to easily adapt the pattern. My gauge with this hook and this yarn was very consistent. I just calculated the conversions.

This process amounted to only increasing to 120 stitches before beginning the sides. This yarn is so awesome for showing stitch definition that I wanted to play with it and dbc was a little too ‘ordinary.’ As I had just completed the Sandy Slouch, I simply did the number of rows necessary to reach about 4” which is about what this pattern’s repeats amount to. I simply had to do it in complete rounds. Since the seam was already showing a bit, I didn’t mind it showing slightly with the sandy stitch. I framed those rows with a row of sc in the back loops to make that nice ‘line.’

The brim starts at 4” and increases to about 6” in the pattern. So I started my base row on the brim with 4” of MY guage which was 5 sc = 1”. It worked!

This yarn sometimes looks like a vintge violet, sometimes like faded sepia and sometimes like sand. But it is not a true grey (black tint), nor is it a beige in the classic warm sand color. It is a chameleon-like taupe or mauve.

I used almost the entire cake of yarn, with maybe a golf ball sized amount left.

I will weigh this and put up some pics soon!
