Notes

Row gauge is essential for fit (pulling over head). I didn’t have row gauge so I switched to the version for the finer yarn and used smaller needles. The rows made by the larger needles are hidden in the folds in front of the neck.

It appeared I would run out of yarn so I stopped with rnd. 32 and added some rounds to form points on the petals, then a round of purling to control curling. I didn’t like the suggested bind-off. It looked too sloppy and loose. A single crochet bind-off was just perfect.

I blocked just the edges (I liked the texture of the too tight lace) by pinning it on a pressing mat, spraying with Shaklee’s fabric softener mixed with water, and blowing just the edges with a hot hair dryer. It still has some gentle waves but I didn’t kill the acrylic fibers.

The cowl is an easy lace pattern. I will make this one again when I find just the right yarn.
