Hanging in the local yarn shop was a lovely Lattice Lace scarf, and my heart went pitter patter when I held it in my hands. Of course I bought the pattern. And the yarn. And so I begin my first real attempt at lacework….

3/13/10: Cast on using the Nickle Needles by Knit Picks. I think these needles are too heavy for this thin yarn….they keep wanting to fall out….

3/30/10: I haven’t made much progress on the scarf. I’m doing a lot of unpicking because I always run into problems in the purl rows. I figured out how to P2TOGTBL, so that’s not the problem. But for some reason I mess up almost every purl row. Maybe it’s the yarn overs…I don’t know. But I’ll persevere--onward!

12/29/10: This scarf has been hibernating. I really had hoped to finish it in 2010, but that’s not happening. :/

9/4/2011: I finally finished the scarf 17 months after I started it. Seventeen months!!!! It took me a long time, for sure! I can’t wait to see what it looks like after it’s blocked.

Finished size on the blocking table is 56 inches by 10 inches. Hmmm…I just realized that the pattern says the finished size is only 7 inches wide. Maybe I stretched it too much when I blocked it. Or maybe it relaxes to 7 inches after it’s blocked. We shall see!
