Notes

I have had this yarn in my stash for over a decade! I find it kind of funny and kind of sad that I knew I wanted to make socks so long ago, but never actually tried until recently.

These will be my second pair of socks ever! Doing two at a time toe up (again) because I refuse to not have symmetrical socks.

I even went as far as to trim a few feet off of one of the balls of yarn so that the color changes lined up. I did not think about the self striping yarn and knitting the heel separately from the front half of the sock, but that worked out perfectly! I don’t think I could have made that happen if I’d tried.

Using Judy’s Magic Cast on.

CO 16 stitches on each needle and increased to 32, but these socks feel a bit too large to fit my foot, so I frogged them after about three inches in to start over and make them smaller.

CO 10 stitches and increased to 28.

I also started the heel a few rows before the line on the foot form I measured for the FLK heel. After finishing the heels and trying on the socks again, they’re perfect!

I need to make a pointier toe next time, and more rounded if I can find a way to fix that little edge lip I’ve gotten on the cast on edges on all the socks I’ve made so far…

Machine washed these for the first time last night. I forgot to put them in a mesh bag, so they were just thrown in loose with everything else. :(

When I first took them out, I thought they were ruined, the feet looked super long and stretched out, but I just put them back on the sock blockers and left them to dry flat and this morning they look awesome!

The yarn got much softer and fuzzier! Stitches are still very well defined! I did find one loose thread in an area that I know there wasn’t a join. Luckily there is no unraveling of stitches, so I’m going to use some nylon thread and try to darn it into place before it gets any ideas.
