I’m just going to make hexipuffs with scraps and mini skeins and hopefully one day I’ll have enough in color combos that I like to make something larger and useful, maybe a bathmat, maybe a bench cushion, maybe the actual quilt it is intended to be. Time will tell!

After looking through all the other beekeepers projects and seeing what people have made, I have a few ideas that I’d like to stick to. I’m already a little bit overwhelmed thinking about making multiple hexipuff projects at once, meaning that they’re going to take even longer, but I’m just going to keep making them one at a time!

I’d like a small quilt in only yellows and creams and tans and ambers and reddish browns (the colors of honey and beeswax) maybe knit some little bees to sew on there…

I’d also like to do a pixelated image of some sort. Not quite like a 16 bit video game image, but similar. Toying with the idea of doing a quilt big enough for my king size bed in a pixelated Starry Night (Van Gogh) or San Giorgio Maggiore at Dusk (Monet). I really like the idea of taking a famous classic painting and using hexipuffs to create a low res image of it in a functional object.

I LOVE some of the gradient blankets people are doing using only skeins of long color change yarn to make their puffs, and then arranging them in these unusual flowing gradients. They look awesome! I’d like to use up ALL of my scraps and mini skeins before I start dedicating whole skeins to puffs and nothing but the puffs.

I do love that I’ve had the foresight to log all the minis and keep track of the yarn going into this project, as I’ve discovered a few new brands and colorways that I absolutely love!

Also learned that I hate the way tweed yarns look :/

Stopped and actually counted all the ones I have so far = 171.

I have been working on these intermittently (for the last 434 days) with an average of 0.4 puffs/day.

If my goal was to make one cal king size quilt, I would need 2420 puffs total (at 2.5 inches per puff, from flat edge to flat edge).

At my current average speed of 0.4 puffs/day, it would take me 5600 more days (approx. 15 years) to knit another 2249 puffs.

Found my project bag for these! WOOHOO!! Made the first batch of puffs since my long distance move and (despite not finding the pattern) fell right back into the groove of knitting these. :D
