A while back, I ask Helen to recommend a pattern that would work up well as a center for a baby boy blanket. Not real flowery! She recommended Arabesque. I loved this pattern. It’s really different! I just love the crocodile stitches! My colors are a bit light. I think it would look so great in really bright colors. I just don’t want every blanket I make this little guy, bright blue. The pattern works up fast. Crocodile stitches are really easy when worked in the round. I chose to extend the large square into a blanket by using Helen’s pattern Beltane Blessing. It added just a small amount of texture. I finished Arabesque with the two rounds of dc and two rounds of hdc. Then It added an addition couple rounds of dc. I wanted to end with 88 stitches on each side.
From there …
I started Beltane Blessing at round 35 and worked it through round 52. I added two extra rounds of hdc and finished with a round of reverse singles…crab stitch.
When looking for a large blanket square, don’t overlook Arabesque!
