This pattern was designed by Helen Shrimpton. She said her grandmother used to make these blankets for her and her siblings when they were young. It is intended as a scrap blanket, but mine is more of “orphaned” rolls of yarn. Yarn that I only had a very few rolls of. All the yarn is a size 4 worsted except the yellow used to connect. It’s dk. It took a few times reading to get the hang of the joining but once I did, it went fast.
My squares measured 3.5 inches. I made 11 rows of 13. The connecting is done with a continuous join. Doing it this way there are very few ends to weave in.
