Pattern Notes:
Dec 20, 2020:
It became pretty easy to get a rhythm going and keep it all straight once I finally understood the pattern LOL (it took me 2 frogs, though … 3rd time is a charm, as the saying goes! LOL). It had been several years since I’d knitted a shawl or shawlette, but the mechanics came back once I got going.
For the repeating rows 7-10:
Rows 7 and 8 use Ash (gray)
Rows 9 and 10 use White
Once I got the hang of the pattern, it became easy. I absolutely love the linen stitch, whether knitting or crochet. Yes, it takes time, but the results are soooo worth it!!!
Yarn Notes:
Dec 14, 2020:
I have 3 skeins of the gray and more than that of the white, so my plan is to use most of the 3 skeins of gray, same with most of 3 skeins of white. If I understand the pattern and what others have done, the shawl should be a good size upon completion.
Re size, pattern states:
After blocking, the smaller sample shawl measures 154 cm (60.6 inches) for the straight edge on the top of the shawl and 61 cm (24 inches) for the height of the shawl at the center.

Shawl finished. Yay!! I absolutely love it!!
As I write this, I lightly washed it last night and it’s currently drying flat on a towel. I’ll be sure to add pics here for reference and update the completed dimensions, yarn used, etc.
Re pattern changes:
I followed the pattern except for the border section. I did 4 rows of white, then a generous inch of the gray/white rows, then 4 rows gray, 1 more row of white, then gray to bind off.
THEN, I did crochet linen stitch all the way around the shawl for a few rows, switching back and forth between gray and white. It’s gorgeous and I love it!!
As I wrote above, I’ll post pics here, including close-ups of the border and edging.
