Notes

These instructions have not been tested. Used my Round Ripple Formula.

Revision: 7/9/11 - added no holes version and fixed round 6.

V st = dc, ch2, dc into one st or chain 2 loop (when paired with sk2, does not increase any sts in the round

dbl V st = 2dc, ch2, 2dc into chain 2 loop (when paired with sk2, increases 2 sts per point or 20 sts per rnd

Into a magic loop, dc 10; join every round
Rnd 2: 2dc into every dc (20 sts)
Rnd 3: dc, 2dc into 1 st, repeat (30)
Rnd 4: 2dc, 2dc into 1 st, repeat (40)
Rnd 5: V st, sk1, repeat 20 times (20 V sts)
Rnd 6: dbl V st into each ch2 loop (20 dbl V sts)
Rnd 7: V st, dc, sk2, dc repeat 20 times
Rnd 8: repeat rnd 7
Rnd 9: dbl V st, dc, sk2, dc repeat 20 times

Continue as established, using dbl V rnds as needed to keep the work flat (the number of dcs will increase between the dbl V sts).

The rate of increase rnds will be a ratio of approximately 3:10. That is, of every 10 rnds, three will be increase rnds with the dbl V and 7 rnds will be no increase rnds using the V st. The rnds may be arranged as follows with + meaning an inc rnd and - meaning a no increase round:

(+--+--+---) repeat these 10 rnds.

Adjust as needed. End with an increase round to help edges lay flat.

For a wavy no-holes version:

rounds 1 to 4 same as above
rnd 5: small shell, skip 1 (repeat around)
rnd 6: small shell, dec2tog
rnd 7: small shell, dec3tog
rnd 8: large shell, dec3tog
continue as before, placing increase rounds as instructed.

small shell: 3dc into one st, substitute for V st
large shell: 5dc into one st, substitute for dbl V st

dec3tog:
dc, but don’t pull yarn through the last two loops, skip st, dc but don’t pull yarn through the last two loops, pull yarn through the three loops on hook.

dec2tog:
same as dec3tog but don’t skip a stitch.

Here is another double decrease without holes:
For no holes in the valleys, use dec2tog twice in the valley.

N.B: Invest in a cloths steamer. You may never iron again and in seconds it blocks your afghan to perfection!
