Hate the colours - but hey it was only odds and ends. Consigned to annual woolly ball felting.

I now have a potential set of rules for creating a top down crochet glove to test on fingering yarn.

Colours: Indigo Heather, Mineral Heather, Blossom Heather, Peony and either Gosling or Finnley - muddled ball bands!

Why fingering? - quicker to make. Can work a glove in a couple of days if I get a wriggle on and can make a pair in fingering and only a single glove in Einband.

Got a huge stash of KnitPicks still despite gloves, intarsia sweaters. It is cheap and cheerful and a good substitute for the more premium J&S. Also have a big bag of yummy yarn club skeins from the NDS which could be worked to make gloves.

One rip and rework as thumbs too big but promising right glove after amending. More consideration to best hook size for tips and placement of colour changes near the tip in future. Increases in single stripes show and too many colour changes result in too many ends to weave which adds to the density of fabric - not a good look at the tips. Also, no merit in using a 2mm hook for starting off as the tip is stiff.

Job Done

Move left thumb one stitch
Use 2.25mm for the tip and ditch the 2.00mm hook
More graduated tip increases
Increase cuff by two more stitches - had to abandon last thumb gusset decrease on this pair to clear the thumb knuckle which inconveniently gave a cuff count of 46. Adding two to make 48 will give such a great number for patterns other than stripes!
Rearrange the thumb decreases and don’t taper too much. Make the bottom of the thumb gusset around the same as the bridge as a rule seems a reasonable idea.
Work the round join a little differently to eliminate the visible bobble which comes from working first single crochet through top loop.
Consider using variations of sc to accentuate stripes. The cuff uses a combination of regular sc and back loop.
