Taking stock at the year end and these were at least up to a giving standard. Posted off to a worthwhile charity - Knit for Peace. I should make more of these - relatively easy. From my crochet glove period this is probably the only pair that has not ended up in the annual wool waste ball making ritual!
Job done - a pretty decent pair now and really no further improvements to make. They are a functional glove, reasonably dense and cosy. Now the pattern is drafted they can be made easily and quickly would make for an OK hand made gift.
Certainly a good project for using up odds and ends of fingering yarns. Easier than working a knitted glove with finger joining method that pretty well eliminates holes and the need for any remedial sewing!
Improving The Previous Pair
Tweaked this

Colours Suede, Almond, Victorian, Edamame - a look of 1940’s.
Finger Tips
Played around with hooks and tip shaping. Initial attempts too pointy and complicated! Have managed to simplify considerably. Best tip starts with 8 stitches increasing to 12 then 16 and working through both loops and 2.35mm Susan Bates hook. Subsequent increases worked between fingers and do not affect the appearance of the stripes. Two row stripes work best. Single rows in multiple colours look messy although have not ruled out two colour single row stripes.
Upper Thumb Shaping
Back of thumb shaping follows the round join rather than a triangular gore as before. This makes shaping pretty well hidden. Left thumb shaping at start of the round and right thumb at the end of the round. The increase is executed through front loop followed by back loop - regardless of which thumb is being worked - this gives the neatest result.
Just the Cuffs
Probably as good as I can get the pattern. The hand fits well and off the hand they look reasonably symmetrical. The revision to the round join is a little neater. The increase in stitch count going into the cuff should be enough to eliminate the tug and the two row stripe patterning is much better than the single row stripes worked in several colours.
Cuff
Took a couple of attempts to get the proportions and the transition from hand to cuff OK.
Added four rounds for cuff transition and worked a join as you go back loop single crochet flat faux rib using a technique from Moogly. Departed ever so slightly from the method joining the cuff to hand with a slip stitch decrease rather than a single crochet decrease. Being picky - it is just a bit firmer and neater. The fold back covers the join so could have lived with it.
