Cast on 129 stitches on needle 4.5mm. I will knit on size 4.0mm. I plan on knitting 11 stiches off single moss stitch on each side and 11 rows on top and bottom of the blanket. Then 2 knit rows (and 2 knit stitches on each side) before starting the pattern in the middle with 13 repeats. I will knit the pattern symmetrical, without the “half-arrows” at each side that the original pattern calls for.
Hmpfr - 11 rows and 11 stitches does NOT make a square… Should have done more like 19-21 rows in order to visually have the same size moss stitch on bottom and the sides. Well… Next time maybe. Blocking may help a little.
Added a row of crocket chain stitches at the long sides with hook 4.5mm, and a picot row (4 crockets between each chain stitch) with hook 4.0mm at the top and bottom sides to finish it off.
Finished work is EXACTLY 150 grams / 3 skeins.
My first project blocking on wires. It will certainly not be my last. :) Need more blocking pins.
I can’t stretch as much on the blocking wires as on pins, so this blanket turned out to be 84cm x 84 cm. Well, it’s a generous stroller blanket anyway.
This yarn gives garnments a little “fluff” / halo and is quite loosely twisted. It does lint a little when knit on quite large needels (3.0mm or larger in my case) It is possible to felt it when splicing, but be sure to take out one strand of the 3twist from each side unless you want the splice to be thicker than the rest of the yarn. So far I’ve handwashed it without it felting in the wash.
