Provisional cast on using two needles, 2.5mm and 3,25mm.
Started with knit 1x1 rib.
14 rounds rib. (Did the rib on 3.25 - a mistake.)
Knit row 17 to 44 unchanged.
Row 45 is of my own creation.
Then I knit row 55-67 as per instruction.
The rest of the hat (11 rounds) I decreased each round.

My hat is 67 rounds and sufficiently deep at the turning point.

Now for the nasty side….

1 purl row, then 19 rounds rib on 2.5mm needles. (Since I picked the smaller needles.

Knit second side with wrap every other stitch alternating between one round with wrapped even stiches, one round with wrapped odd stitches. This made a very nice and even fabric.

Added a fleece lining to the inside of the hat before I started the decreases on the second side.

The nasty side is a tiny bit shallow, but it will stay this way. He’ll have to wear the nice side out if it’s really cold.

The hat stretched just enough after a light wash/good soak to be just perfect in size. Hubby is satisfied. I didn’t get any photos of the nice side … yet.
