A new sweater for DH. He wanted a hot(warm) one.
I like the top-down construction from Erik and find that using EZ calculations for seamless hybrid with looser sleeves is a good fit for DH.
To add to the confusion I’ve choosen to combine stranded with texture. We’ll se how smart that was where the saddle meet the body … I anticipate swearing and tears.
The texture is from lothepus (hat/cardigan) and the stranded pattern/coloring is inspired by the same sweater. The texture is very elastic both ways and yilds about 24 x 24 lightly stretched while the stranded pattern is more like 26 x 26. We’ll see how well that turns out.
Textured pattern/saddle knit on 3.5mm needles.
Pickup around neck: 132 st.
1 selvage st. each side. k2, p2 else.
Neck knit on 3.0mm needles.
Had to crochet with thin elastic thread around the neck before sewing down the collar. It was too wide. Now it’s ok.
I aligned the zip so that the rows on the sweater matched and nothing puckered. Then I sewd it down by hand, one stitch away from the selvedge, from the top down.
Thumb holes:
Rib is 1x1.
(I placed the thumb holes 25% and 75% along the circle of the sleeve cuff, calculated from the beginning ouf round - in the middle of the armpit.)
Cast off 7 st.
Knit to cuffhole, turned, knit back (WS) to cuffhole.
Turned again, knit to cuffhole, cast on 6 st. with BW loop.
Knit round, knit to cast on stitches, knit these in pattern and added one at the end.
Knit the rest of the rib itr, the last five rounds on 2.4mm. Lori’s twisty bind off on 3.0mm.
