Finished, Dec. 24, 2011. Only need to wash and block now. Very worried it’s going to be too small for Todd’s head. But it looks great. I’d totally wear it.

Changes from original concept below: Screw the moose scene, I put a TSG logo on it because Todd is in TSG with Shmoo, and I felt it went better with the Dirty Reindeer chart as a representation of the wearer. Leaving the chart images of the moose in case someone wants them.

March 1:
Using the chart from the Olympic Reindeer Hat and modifying the chart from the Fornicating Deer Chart to fit with the same spacing on the field of white, I plan to use the idea of a public/non-public hat as shown in the Basic Lined Hat Pattern Directions and make myself a Dirty Olympics hat, with the modified chart show here subbing for the deer panels on one of the sides.

I am lucky enough that most places I go, I can just wear it dirty side out, but I like the idea of being able to wear it anywhere by just flipping it to the other side. Also, it’s nice to take the opportunity to take two knits I’d like and make one I’ll really love.

Ear flaps are also planned, but I’ll have to see what I think when I get further along. Must pick yarn first.

March 11
Yarn is here. After much more online photo research, I’ve realized that RL didn’t match the pattern on the back of the hat. The reason you can really only ever find photos of just the front is because the back is obviously the back. Also there appears to be 2 kinds of this hat. One with blue writing (boys size I believe) and one with red (L/XL men’s). There are also 2 different kinds of trees on each type. I was shooting to be as authentic as possible, but once I realized the pattern didn’t line up properly, screw that. I refuse to make my color work flawed on purpose. RL fail ftl.

I’ve also recharted the olympic chart to have different crow decreases. Links to those charts are here:

Am adjusting the naughty reindeer chart within this new charting as well, but just going to knit the clean side first while I make some design decisions about the naughty side.
