My second time knitting this pretty pattern.
The lace detail is lovely, and the front edgings are clever. No need to add front bands as they are formed as you work the cardigan. This cardigan knits up quickly.
NOTES:
-
Where pattern says to slip 1 it means to slip knitwise. I confirmed this with the designer.
-
At end of the body section, don’t cut the yarn… you’ll need it when putting sleeves and body on a circ. needle ready to work the yoke. If you can, use a fresh ball for the sleeves.
-
Sleeves: Once the ribbing is done you have to increase by one stitch and then continue with the rest of the sleeve. The pattern wants you to put that increase at the end of the row which to me is a little unusual. I did the increase about mid row. It can’t be seen.
-
Yoke: If you didn’t originally cut the yarn when the body section was done, you won’t need to “rejoin the yarn to body at left front edge”!
-
Two buttons instead of one.
Next time I’ll work the sleeves in the round. I don’t mind seaming, but it seems pointless working these ones flat when the rest of the cardigan is seamless… plus they were fiddly to seam when I was ready to just be done with it.
I know this is a lovely yarn as I’ve knitted with it before, but you don’t appreciate that till the garment’s been washed. Then it becomes soft and drapey, so lovely!
Having knitted Drops Lille Mille cardigan just before this one, I was aware that the two patterns are quite similar… different in detailing but basically alike.
