2/16/15 - I gave the shawl today to my mom. I’m really happy with how it came out. Blocking really helped open up the shawl and give it a nice drape. I’m definitely making one of these for me!
2/15/15 - I’ve finished weaving in all the ends. Now to wash and block it! I want to make the yarn a little softer so I’m going to add some fabric softener along with the wool wash and see how it turns out.
2/6/15 - I’ve finished crocheting all the flowers together. The long row is 10 flowers long, and the shawl is 5 rows deep, with each row decreasing by one flower. I really like it! I’m hoping with blocking it will increase a little in size and then I think it will be perfect. But first I’ve got to weave in all the ends. I was bad and didn’t do any weaving as I went along. Oh well. It is less than 100 ends to weave in, which is not that bad compared to most of my projects. The last blanket I finished had like 550 ends to weave in.
1/9/15 - I’ve finished one skein of yarn. I only got 13 flowers out of it, so I don’t think I will be able to make 45 flowers out of 3 skeins. Instead of adding 11 flowers to the long side, I will probably just add four flowers to the edge to make it longer. Or I might add 6 flowers to the bottom of the shawl, depending on how many flowers I can get out of the last two skeins. For now I will keep following the schematic in the book.
1/7/15 - I’ve done 8 flowers. I think I have enough yarn to make 45 flowers, so I will add one more row to the shawl. It will be 11 flowers on the long side, and five rows, with each row decreasing one flower.
1/3/15 - I have some hope of finishing this for my mother’s birthday, which is in about 3 weeks.
