5/8/13 - The blanket is done! I’m happy with it. For the border I just did four rounds of single crochet, and the final fifth round is single crochet with 3-chain picots every third stitch. I did not even out the ripple ends of the blanket, so the border is a little wonky on those sides, but I’m hoping a run through the wash will help it lay a little better. And if not, I don’t mind the ruffly look and I don’t think the baby will care much either!
5/4/13 - Finished weaving in the ends and have started on the border. I’ve decided to do a few rounds of single crochet in different colors, with the final row to have some kind of picot or shell or ruffle. Something small - I feel like this blanket should not have a big fancy border.
4/25/13 - I’ve finished crocheting the body of the blanket. I have 99 rows of rainbow ripply goodness. I was not disciplined about weaving in ends as I went along. I’ve only weaved in about a third of them. I guess that’s better than nothing! As I weave in the remaining ends I will think about what kind of border I want.
3/21/13 - I want 12 repeats, so I’m chaining 144+3 (147) to start. I want a 1-2-3 stripe pattern, so the beginning color will have 3 rows, followed by the next color with 1 row, then the following color with 2 rows, etc.
I’m making this for a friend’s daughter. I initially wanted to make a blanket made of small flower squares, but that was wildly ambitious. So I am making something that does not involving weaving in hundreds and hundreds of ends.
