Finishing notes: I soaked this hat and laid it out to dry, and the purl bands totally flattened out. I don’t know if it was the yarn or not, but in the future I don’t think this hat needs blocking.

Gauge - 22 inches per 4 inches on size 6 needles

9/29/15 - I finished knitting the hat! I did 9 purl bands before doing the last set of knit decreases. Now for the knitting in of ends.

9/20/15 - I finished the double brim yesterday and have finished two repeats of the purl/knit band pattern. This is going much speedier than the first time I made this hat. I’m also trying to avoid ladders, which seem to especially be a problem with purl rows (I’m using magic loop). So I’m trying to pull the purl stitches tight when I transition to the opposite set of stitches. I can still see the seam a little bit but I’m hoping once it goes through the wash it will even out more.

9/15/15 - Cast on 92 stitches using the provisional crochet cast on. I followed this method, where you crochet the chain around the needle instead of crocheting the chain first and then picking up the bumps.

Joining in the round was kind of fiddly but I figure this part of the hat will be folded under the brim so if it’s a little wonky it’s okay.
