Notes

I think these huge skeins of butterscotch yarn were reproducing amongst my stash so, in an effort to cull the herd, I roped a lively skein from the corral to use in this Tree of Life Sampler.

I have both loved and feared this pattern since the first day I laid eyes on it. But-after many years-I finally worked up courage to attempt the baby-sized version. I’m so glad I did. The body itself is really not difficult. It just requires concentration and good notes on one’s location in the pattern.

I discovered in this project, however, that I’m not really happy with the flower section. Mine came out just fine, but the afghans with the Traveling Double Diamonds cables really pop. I think I will try that on my grown up afghan next time.

As for the edging-let me give a shout out to YouTube. I found a video that gave clear, wonderful direction on how to stitch on an edging and was incredibly pleased by how well mine turned out. I’ve always been afraid to even try and the instructor made it crystal clear. I will go back and find the link and include it here: https://youtu.be/B9qHd13c1Lo

I hope everyone who loves this pattern will give it a try. It is beautiful and even completing the small one is rewarding.
