Notes

I made a mistake in the setting up of the first latvian braid, a stupid silly mistake but decided to use it as a “design element”, yeah, let’s go with that, and made the same mistake on purpose for the second mitten so as to have a bit of continuity. I did change the colouring of one of the braids on the second mitten as well, just for fun and to see what it would look like.
I do like how the thumb blends so beautifully in with the pattern on the outside but is totally different on the palm side. I still prefer the fit of side thumbs though. But these are fine and ever so pretty.

Made these for my darling brother’s birthday. I am very fortunate to have him for a brother.

I would like to have lined them but not enough time and also not sure that they are quite large enough for a lining. But they should fit well the way they are now. Not sure that they are terribly warm as they are. I used an unknown Colourmart white cashmere blend (love their yarns), and a black alpaca light. The black was a bit too fine even though it was supposed to be a fingering, it was more of a lace weight. I have lost the tags but think that it was a Berroco light alpaca. Don’t remember what the white was. I decided to make these late and did not have time to order and wait for yarns. No local yarn stores here. But I know that he will love them. He is more proud of my knitting than I am. Isn’t that sweet? He is a brother truly worthy of hand knit items. Even though he did accidentally put 2 knitted shetland shawls of Maman’s in the washing machine. He can be forgiven though as she had them in a Pillowcase for ‘safekeeping’. He just thought it was on the bed to be washed. oops. That was a long time ago and he has since learned to look carefully with her things. He is such a wonderful brother and son and takes such kind care of our mother. I wish him a Very Happy Birthday.
