Cast on 240 on size 7s. Switch to size 4s.
Do 3 rows MC in 3x3 rib, then add CC in an all-knitted round, alternating colors k3MC, k3CC around. (this removes the purl dashes on the front).
Work the stacks of 12-6-3 twice and add 1 set of 12 on top.
Decrease at row 58 (after 2 full stacks and a set of 12) using k4 k2tg, taking 240 down to 200 sts. Then decrease again after stacks of 6-3, using k4, k2tg, k4 for 180 sts. Change to size 3 needles. Keep stacking.
wish I had used 3.5 needles here for less “funnel” shape, but it turned out the right width to keep the ears warm.

I got kind of scattered after switching needles and started with a 6-stack. So I left it there and completed another 12-6-3 on top of it. 101 rows, but I think it could have used another full stack.
I think reducing the needle size is crucial for a warm face, if you want it to stay up around your cheeks or ears.
I bound off 3 different ways and all curled outward! So I chose an even smaller needle size, us 2 (2.75mm) then just did a regular tight bind off. I steam pressed the binding flat because it still wanted to roll. Looks fine now.
I did this for a friend, and now for one of my own that will drape more (less funnel shaped).
