I wanted to make a striking hat with lots of orange to match my new orange jacket for Norway. Ended up buying a bright blue one as well. I want a fabulous hat to stand on Kjeragbolten and get a great picture.

So I altered the Cockatoo Brae and Asta patterns from KD great designs. Kind of fun. I think it turned out ok. My knitting was sort of sloppy for some reason. Not my best work. And while the Cockatoo pattern looks good, the finer Asta border that is around the crown looks just ok. It would have been better suited for above the ribbing but I couldn’t get the math to work out chart wise. Its a great pattern for a border.

It looks a little Rastafarian for my taste color wise-esp with the black. I should have used a more muted palate of perhaps all shades of orange. Not sure. But it does match my knitting bag!

Might be named Asta Brae for Nor-way. :)
