Notes

This was a limited edition crochet banana design inspired by Andy Warhol’s famous banana print. I was commissioned to make 40 of them to help raise money to bring Andy Warhol’s famous exhibition, “Silver Clouds” to Artisphere is Rosslyn, Virginia.

The bananas went up for sale on indiegogo, a crowdfunding platform:

The bananas were made in 3 stages:

The first stage I made the banana bodies and stuffed them. The body design allows for a nice arc in the upper section of the banana and expanded and/or decreased stitches in strategic areas to give the banana its shape.

The second stage, I added the top and bottom stems and the rind ridges in black.

The third stage I added the ribbed shading in black that is similar in pattern of the Andy Warhol banana print.
