I was asked to make a bunch of bananas for the Artisphere Yarn Bomb. They are probably larger than they anticipated, but I am a ‘macro’ crocheter!

Our mascot for this project is a gorilla (Gorilla Stitch Brigade). He needs some bananas!

I went through a prototype before I settled on this design. The first prototype didn’t not turn out well. Then this one felt more natural. Each banana is one solid piece. I crochet chain lines in various (ripeness colors) down them to give them a more natural shape. Then I added the top stem of each banana before crocheting them together.

I still need to add some brown to all the tips of the bananas and I may do some more reinforcing on the top where the bunch is connected together.
