Began work on a giant dogwood blossom. I got some yarn (fiber) from the Artisphere free tub. It’s an unknown fiber however after inspection, I believe it to be man-made most likely acrylic. It has a soft velveteen feel to it, which makes it great for flower petals.

I have all the petals made. I think they turned out pretty well. Now I am working on the little stamens for the center. I’m not sure how I’m going to assemble the pedals together just yet.

01/28/2013
Ok…have chosen to use some 22 gauge wire to go around the pedals. Since they are large, they do not have a stiff enough shape. I’m going to use wire in them and possibly connect the pedals together with the wire as well.
I’m still debating on whether to leave just the flower and make a stem to put it on.

Decided on no stem. Since it’s for the yarnbomb, I’m going to leave it as-is so we can attach it to whatever needed for more flexibility.
