Notes

I read all the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder and became fascinated with this pattern when I first saw it.

Later I learned the pattern was created by Mary Card. It is interesting working on a pattern that is so old an also made by one of my childhood authors.

I have not made lacets before, but I think I have it figured out. I am using size 20 thread and a size 10 hook. I have made other filet patterns in this size thread and it turns out well for me. Still looks like delicate thread. Mary Card and Laura probably used size 50 thread which was the size thread popular at that time.

I couldn’t believe it! I was thinking I would like to frame it and the day after I completed it I found a perfect used frame. It was vines embossed on the frame and is just perfect. I will have to stain some dings and then run over it with polyurethane, but that won’t be too hard.

I won a blue ribbon at the SD State Fair - August 2013
