Notes

“That was the house which had stood where the blasted heath was to come - the trim white Nahum Gardner house amidst its fertile gardens and orchards.”
--H.P. Lovecraft, “The Colour Out of Space”

Did I buy the yarn specifically for its name? Yes. Did I then look for a project where I could extend the reference into the project’s name and concept? Absolutely. Judge me if you must; I have no regrets. Nahum Gardner’s white picket fence, across a field of The Colour.

I totally lost count of rows at multiple times. So I can’t swear I completely stuck to the pattern here. I’m very happy with it all the same and totally keeping it all for myself.

In the end, my skein of Strong Sock went a lot farther than I expected; I just kept going until I was afraid I didn’t have enough left for another repeat and got 7 stockinette sections (including the initial one) out of it.

It’s 58” x 22” on the blocking mat.

Photos of the finished product to follow after it’s finished blocking.
