1/21 - DONE! Finished the right mitt’s flip-top and knit both thumbs (I needed 18 rounds before the two decrease rounds on the thumbs). Found some shiny buttons at JoAnn’s… The buttons are attached right at the edge of the cuff, and I sewed them on using a single ply from the yarn. Comfy, warm, and pretty!
If I could change one thing about the pattern, I actually would have knit the finger area for longer, or knit separate fingerlets (like 5-6 rows for each finger). As it is, the finger ribbing and flip-top ribbing don’t always line up with each other, leaving a tiny bit of my hands exposed. But overall, definitely nice!
1/14 - Cast on and knit the body of the second mitt. Also knit the left mitt’s flap: picked up sts as directed (though I’m knitting this whole thing using a 9” circular needle, as DPNs are the creation of the devil himself), but only knit 5 rows of ribbing then stockinette for 15 rows. Decreased a row, knit 5 more rows, and finished. For what it’s worth, I don’t see why the pattern’s designer has you move stitches from one needle to the other when finishing the flip-tops, as it effectively ruins the symmetry. I wouldn’t do this if I knit this pattern again.
1/13 - Altering the pattern a bit, for comfort and to keep a sleeker look. After 20 rds of ribbing, knit the decrease row. Knit 19 more rds for 40 total, then proceeded with the gusset (so I have one more rd than the pattern calls for, but I’m okay with that. I like even numbers). Followed the pattern, knitting through row 63, then knit 5 rds of ribbing and bound off.
1/12 - Cast on and knit the first 20 rds of the left mitt.
