This is my first attemt knitting a large project without following a particular pattern. Named after the Great River;)
I started wanting to make Drapey Neck Silk Cardigan , but the instructions were so tricky I gave up and followed partly Featherweight Cardigan with adjusted amount of sts instead. I adopted the collar from the former only knitted it longer, and also put by impulse a pattern on the sleeves.
Yoke:
CO 64 sts. Divided 2/10/40/10/2
After knitting a few rounds, I decided to put a pattern on the sleeves. (I do regret a little bit that the pattern doesn’t run all the way up)
Did raglan increases, but also a few neckline (sideline) increases.
The River pattern, seen from RS: The actual pattern is (k1,p1,ktbl,p1,ktbl,p1,ktbl,p1,k1) The river curves by doing increases and decreases at each side of it. See the Kalajoki pattern for details! (Thank you annhelen for recognizing this pattern, no way I would’ve recalled that name!)
Body:
“Fake” side seam - p1,k1,p1 on each side.
Decreased and increased 4 times.
Knitted approximately 40ish cm.
Sleeves: I think I’ll do bell sleeves :)
Decrease 2 sts 3 times every 10-12th row. Knit until sleeves are a bit beyond the elbows.
Increase 2 sts 3 times.
Collar: Pick up 3 every 4 for the side bands, for the back of neck pick up 7 every 8. Knit st.st two rows, then decrease 5 sts evenly at the back of neck.
I was worried as hell when I washed the cardi in handwash programme, the handwash was meant for cotton and syntetics, not wool! (found out a little too late) But it looks fine, currently drying (feels sooo much softer after washing!)
Will put buttons on, eventually :)
