Back in late December 2016, I found a mitten outside of the Farragut North Metro station in Washington, DC. After trying (and failing) to find its creator on Ravelry, I gave the little guy a much-needed bath before packing him up and moving to Tennessee a few days later.

Fast forward to December 2020 and yet another move - back North to Virginia, a bit closer to home. I rediscovered the mitten while setting up my new craft room and decided that it was well past time to knit him a mate.

The original (left) mitten was a near-match for this pattern, minus an element or two (i.e., the cuff stripes, the gusset increases). It was also a bit felted - deliberately so or from standard wear, I cannot tell - so I stuck the new mitten in hot water after binding off and gave it a good agitation. I might have overdone that a bit, given how much stitch definition was lost - and no amount of shaving can reduce that felted halo - but even so, the end result is a much better match than it’s fresh-off-the needles counterpart.

Claimed by my husband, who was in need of a warm pair of mittens.
