Notes

Followed Shibanut’s easy folded poncho to make this a seamless poncho. Her directions and photos are great and easy to follow. Thank you! I added photos of my project showing the double moss stitch border. Also used a provisional cast on method provisional cast on how to video

Started with 130 stitches. Measurements of completed poncho = 26” by 53”.

With the double moss stitch border I modified it by knitting in the back of each knit stitch.

Added border to right side of poncho which will result in a border around each edge of poncho once completed - see photo #4 - you can see how the border is started on the first knit row after the provisional cast on row and is started on the right side of work only. The left side is normal stockinette.

Note: once I joined the working needle and the provisional needle stitches for the fold there were 260 stitches or double the number I started with which makes a long stretch of knitting. The double moss border is now completed at both the beginning and end of each row after the fold. By starting the border at provisional cast and ending with a 2 1/2 inch border after the fold and when you have enough length to finish, you will have a border along every edge of the poncho (see photos).

Used a size 6 40” circular needle as the “working needle” for first 24” of knitting before the fold. Used size 6 24” circular needle for “provisional cast on” needle. The working needle becomes the main needle after I knit all the “live” provisional stitches onto the working needle. (see photos).

Used Jenny’s surprisingly stretchy bind off to finish the cowl.

Knit the poncho with the two yarns combined. Very soft and warm. Both yarns that I used contain silk which caused the poncho to grow after washing.
