Wow, totally fell in love with this 100% Dutch (local!) yarn from the Dutch Yarn Barn. I adore the colors and the marled look of the plied strands. I immediately thought of this queued pattern to make for it. This knit will tick two of my intentions for this years project!
1) Make a sweater for my other half
2) Knit a sweater from local yarn.
I swatched using a 4 mm needle and like the fabric. The swatch feels warm, but has a slight prickle. A soak in Eucelan diminished the prickle significantly, but it was not totally gone. After a wash at 30 °C in the machine, using regular detergent, it lost a little bit of colour, but feels excellent, so I am sure the fabric will improve with washing.
The gauge is 22st and 33 rows for 10 x 10 cm, 10% more than the pattern gauge. I will therefore make size 3, but with stitch counts from size 4 (this is +10%).

I just bound of after doing the ribbing for the body, and here is a bit of bad luck: despite extensive measuring, the sweater is too short! It seems the fit has changed (not for the better) by doing the pocket. I’m not planning on redoing the pocket and the ribbing, so I will just make a cut in the sweater (ieeee), add some length and then do kitchener to put it together again.
Additional note then is: I think I might need some more blue yarn or figure out a way to cope with too less yarn

Hurray! Finished body and sleeves. It is very clear that I won’t have enough blue yarn for the hood. I think I’ll try to make it green in stead of blue, and use the blue for stripes, making it sort of invert of the body. Hope this will look okay…

I really like the look of the hood in green with blue stripes and one orange one. Only thing left to do is to knit the picked up stitches for the hood border and making a drawing cord in orange using Kumihimo.
