I got one enormous skein of wool from my mother in law, and was looking for a project other than the attached poncho-pattern, and found this quirky cardigan.
I rewote the pattern to be able to knit the cardigan in one piece rather than separate front and back.

I finished the body yesterday, and I am worried it might be a bit to short for me, I will check how it turns out in the end. I absolutely love how the colour of the one skein turned out.
As soon as the part is dry and has blocked out, I will start the sleeves!

One sleeve is now finished, and I have severely altered the gauge and length of the sleeve. I think I will frog the body and redo it, with the correct gauge.

Second sleeve is finished! Now I’ll have to figure out how much I want to tweak the body considering the amount of yarn I have.

I finally decided what to do with this project.
I weighed all the different parts and my remaining bit of yarn, and calculated the amount of yarn per stitch.
Using this I recalculated how much yarn I can use for making the main part longer, and still do the turtleneck.
For the arms I had to multiply the number of needles by 1.4 to get a length fitting for my arm. So for the main part, I also will also multiply this part by 1.4. The part from the lowest point until the armhole shaping will be multiplied by 1.15.
So, I frogged the entire main part and cast it on again. To be continued!

I finished the main part yesterday and am now picking up stitches for the border. After I did those, I will pick up stitches for the turtleneck and finish my yarn! :D

Borders done (1 row of p1k1 and bind off), and now I picked up stitches for the turtleneck. If my calculations are correct, I will finish my skein with this!

I have (finally) finished this project. It was not per se necessary to make it take so long, but I failed to knit quite some bit, because I was quite nauseous and tired (indeed, expecting my first baby!).
However, I am happy with the result, and think the design might actually be very useful for a continuation of the pregnancy - enough room for a belly!
