ETA: I just received a copy of the book Knits from a Painter’s Palette, and the pattern in there has better instructions, and a correct chart (shows both sides of shawl, with correct decreases).
Also just got copy of book Wrapped in Color, and chart is still different. Shows half of pattern, so you still have to reverse at center, and remember to reverse decreases, or go back to right side of chart when you hit the center but then the lace will not be quite symmetrical around center. I say go with Knits from a Painter’s Palette, if you have a choice.
The version of the pattern (printed version that came in kit) that I have requires a lot of extrapolation, and is incorrect, IMHO. She only shows the right half of the shawl in the chart, and explains the left half is the mirror image. She doesn’t point out that you have to reverse the direction of the decreases in the left half. In the written instructions, there is very little helpful formatting, and for the left half, she just says “repeat for other side”, when actually you have to follow the instructions in reverse, as well as reverse the decreases. So it can all work if you can fill in all those blanks in your head.
Having said that, it is a beautiful pattern, fun to work! It is not a difficult pattern at all, it is just written up in a confusing manner.
I got this kit at VKL 2019, at the Adirondack Fibers booth, and got the light colored colorway kit. 5 colors of KPPPM.

I am going to try to incorporate the lace into the stockinette sections - but I didn’t think of it until third skein.
Note to self: did not work very well! Forget that

Last 8 rows - alternating ball 5 and ball 1. Won’t have enough of ball 5 to finish otherwise.
