Base: I wanted a flat cross-body bag so I worked the base differently. ch 39 (desired width + 1). sc2 in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, sc3 in last ch, rotate work to sc in opposite side of each ch, sc in last ch (which already has sc2 already. slst join to 1st sc (78).

Sides: I worked the sides according to pattern which forms stars using 1st 3 stitches, then uses pairs of stitches until penultimate star; last star’s pair = last stitch and connects to middle of starting chain. then slst as usual to 1st stitch. Having 2 joins in this way at seam creates a great join with no gaps. Only change I made was ch 1 (instead of 2) to start round 2.

Strap: fsc for length desired then rotate to work slst blo around with ch 2 each end.
