This dress is based on the Spring Leaves Dress pattern found here An off center duplicate stitch heart is encircled by a ring of leaves which change direction on either side of it. . The bottom of the dress and lower row of leaves are done in darker shades than the top row of leaves and remainder of the dress.
The dress is based on the cap sleeve dress version of the dresses found in Julie Williams Seasonal Dresses pattern linked above.
For this dress, I used a long tail cast on of 89 stitches and knit rows 2-5 on straight needles joining in the round on row 6. The long tail cast on is row 1. The leaves are knit in two directions changing direction at an offset point on the front of the dress with a space of 9 stitches between the change of repeats. The first chart on the left should be done for 7 repeats and separated by a space of 9 stitches before following the second chart for 9 repeats.
The third chart shows the repeats and the point at which the direction changes. The last chart shows the pattern for the duplicate stitch heart.
This design could be done in all one color for the dress and a single color for the leaves. Any design could be embroidered or done in duplicate stitch in place of the heart.
I followed my usual dress modifications and decreases for a 88 stitch cast on found here
Since this dress used a cast on of 89 stitches, there will be one extra stitch reamaining when you do the purl decrease row. I find it’s easiest just to K2tog at the start of the next row and count it as one stitch.
The bunny was knit with sublime extra fine merino dk in caramel on 2.75mm needles.
