I reconnected last year with a close friend from high school. However, she recently relocated across the country! I decided to knit a going-away present that her and her partner could enjoy in their new home.

This blanket was a journey though. It took me three tries to find the right pattern. I originally bought this combination of yarns to make Journey. However, as beautiful as that pattern is, I didn’t like the construction after trying one square. Then I thought I might make White Star. But I didn’t like the mosaic effect with this palette either. Back to the drawing board! I finally settled on this pattern, which I have made once before as a baby blanket.

I still don’t love the overall colour scheme, but my friend appreciates the gift, and that is what matters!
