This was Amanda’s birthday gift this year. Another animal for her growing menagerie. She told me before she even knew what I was making her that his name would be Phil (in the red).

I showed off progress pics of Phil to my friend Emeline on Discord. One night, as she was going to bed, I sent a photo of the nearly finished Phil with the caption, “Phil says good night.” Emeline replied, “I LOVE YOU, PHIL.” She was so taken with him that, with her birthday coming up in April, I decided to make her a penguin too.

The penguin with the blue scarf is Mo, Phil’s brother. Phil has gone to live with Amanda, and Mo now lives in France with Emeline.

This pattern was very easy to knit. I am not a big fan of seaming separate pieces together, but the effort was worth it in this case. I made each of these chubby boys in about two days apiece, and they are so lovely and adorable!

I held eyelash yarn double with the corresponding DK yarn to get the fluffy effect. The yellow yarn is a stash yarn, not sure of what provenance.
