Notes

I’ve had this pattern since last August (2018), and the yarn since September, but I got involved with the Bambi Shawl and so this got put on hold.

The pattern designer used grey scale yarn when she made this but others have branched out and done it in browns, blues, purples, and now green. I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out, but it looks pretty good I think blush

There are 12 portraits to this “Adventure” of characters that appeared in The Hobbit movies, along with a banner, which will all be assembled when finished and hopefully will look like a really cool blanket, perfect for any Tokien fan slightly_smiling_face

I’ve never used this yarn before but it is really soft and great to work with. Gandalf is done (finished on the 18th) and I’ll post a picture of him off the loom when I take a picture of the current character I’m working on, Bard. I’m planning on doing that today slightly_smiling_face

I thought I’d put a couple links here in case anyone was interested in knowing how to knit this way on a knitting loom.

These are videos by knittingboard (subscribe to their channel to get notified of any new vids). If you investigate further you will find a myriad of tutorials showing how to knit on a loom, whether it be in the round, flat, or double knit.

The loom I’m using for these portraits was a custom order with 75 pegs on both boards (sides), so it won’t be on the website. You’ll have to contact the owner, Kelly Jones, and talk to her about what you would want as these looms are all handmade. The website for Kiss Looms is kisslooms.com.

I’ve really been lax on this project. I’m going to have to get back to it soon (hubby is on me about it now, which never happens).

Next portrait is going to be FILI. I’m going to try the Macro Mode on my NIKON Coolpix camera this time to see if I can get better pics crossed_fingers

Finally finished FILI and will start on KILI next slightly_smiling_face

TAURIEL is now done. Next up…..THORIN heart

August 29, 2020

Finally after all this time, I’m finished! I’m cross-eyed, and my fingertips are yarn-burned, but I’m finished!

All the seaming has done me in and it’s quite difficult to type but just wanted to make this quick notation.

The seaming was all done in a 5 day time period. I worked on it all day, every day, and even though I’m not a good sewer, the seaming is sturdy and will hold through many washings.

Some of the portraits aren’t very nice on the reverse (Side B) as I was learning as I went along and my tension was not the same on all of them. Consequently, some of them were longer and/or wider than others so I had to do some tweaking with those particular portraits as I went along.

As with most of my bigger projects, getting a picture taken is a task in and of itself since I need help and DH isn’t always available. This project is no different. Since I know there are many who have been following this journey with me, and are looking forward to seeing this completed, I will be diligent in trying to get pictures posted as soon as possible. But for now…..

Hallelujah!!! It’s DONE! grin
