Zebra from the land of Oz :) The stripes on this Patons Australia pattern are so lifelike. It’s a lovely out-of-print pattern that took a bit of extra effort to obtain, but I’m so glad that all involved were so generous! That includes Patons Au and the 2 Ravelers who knitted it earlier.
The knitting portion was a delight, charts & instructions easy to follow. The putting it all together part, a bit tedious.
Though I am delighted with the overall result, probably I’m least satisfied with the leg seams. Still mastering the art of seaming I guess. But back and gusset seams turned out better.
By the time I got to the tail I gladly followed Tiredknitter’s lead 6-stitch i-cording it instead of flat & more seaming. Also reversed the inner & outer ear colors because imo they look better that way with the outers (backs) white, and inners black. As well, did not use any specialty yarns for the mane or tail.
The black and white Bernat “satin” yarns were smooth and soft, but a bit too fuzzy. I think I may have preferred Caron Simply Soft. (But Bernats were on sale.)
3/30/14: Just realized today while taking pics of Ozzie Z on his first outdoor adventure, I seamed the belly gusset in backwards :( Oh no! Clearly, the thicker black stripes belong in back, the thinner ones in front. I thought I was following the directions, but apparently all those stripes made me giddy. Ah well, so it goes. Still happy with him.
