Meet Gnora the Gnome! Gnora has spent her life being a gnice gnome, keeping quiet when the boy gnomes were gnaughty and gnever telling.

But Gnora the Gnome is tired of being gnice. She knows what happened to her is gnot her fault, it gnever was, and the time has come for gnaughty gnomes to reap what they sowed.

Gnora the Gnome is angry. And she knows gno matter how cute she is, gnobody has to right to touch her without her enthusiastic consent.

I fell in love with this pattern the moment I saw it, and fully intended to knit a cute little squishy gnome.

But as I was knitting I was watching more and more survivors come forward, watching far too many of the men I know dismissing attempted rape as “something every boy does in high school”…and so the more I gnit the more righteous indignation poured into Gnora.

As a survivor myself, I stand with other survivors.

Me Too, Believe Women, all the handy little hashtags we have now that are really saying “I’m done being quiet. And if you’re scared, I’m glad. Because it means justice is on the way.”

That being said…this was an adorable pattern to knit. I tweaked it just a tiny bit.

Used a Chinese Waitress Cast-on for the hat brim.

Then, instead of picking up stitches, I cast on and increased and knit the body in one piece.

The beard and hands are fingering weight held double.

Speaking of hands, mine hurt after knitting sport weight yarn on size 2’s. Don’t try that. :P

But the yarn IS yummy sport weight Louet Gems that I then kettle-dyed, and you should definitely try the yarn.

Just not on size 2’s.
