Notes

I am planning to make several snoods for Christmas. This first one is a cornflower blue for my daughter-in-law, Heather. I am using size 8 hex bead in white. The beads don’t show too well in the photo. I used Rosemary Hill’s suggested crochet hook cast-on and the wire method for inserting beads. This is my first bead project. It is also my first time to use yarn this fine. It feels like I am knitting with thread! But it is going well. I found the pattern easy to follow. The second one is an aqua color for my other daughter-in-law, Deirdre.

Someone on Ravelry suggested reserving 5 yards of yarn at the beginning so that you don’t have to join yarn to do the final bind-off. Great Idea! But 5 yards was not enough. I reserved 8 yards on the second one and just barely made the bind-off. You have to bind off really loosely for the edge to look good.

I finished the blue one October 31 and started the second aqua one. Finished the aqua one on November 30. Now I just have to wrap them and get them sent for Christmas.

I am pleased with both snoods. I am going to make a dewberry one for myself.
