Spinning and knitting this for Ravelympics 2010, Team Spinning Knitters. February 12 - 28, 2010 … 17 days of insanity. Event: Fleece to FO Long Track. Woo hoo -- I can’t believe it, I did it!
NOTES:
-
From a Shetland fleece I purchased … a while ago.
-
Carding it with my hand carders, and spinning it woolen, then plying. Subtle stripes that I think will look okay on this cardigan.
-
Based on the first 4 oz that’s been spun, I should have 800 - 1000 yds total, which should be plenty for the size 34.5”. It looks like I’ll need about 700 yards. Maybe I’ll add longer sleeves with the extra yarn I have?
-
2/12 -- cast on during opening ceremonies party with some knitting pals! Got through first 4 oz bag that became skeins 5 & 6! I need to get back to spinning to keep on top of the yardage. I still have 5 more 4 oz bags to spin -- that’s 20 oz of raw shetland! Eeks!
-
2/27 -- one more day to go -- the last skein is drying -- almost there!!
-
MODS to pattern -- no major modifications except: --> I decided to Pf/b for the raglan increases rather than knit f/b -->I also immediately knit the ribbing for the sleeves as I was worried a later skein might not match quite so well as the current one (it also made it easier to knit until I almost ran out)
