Notes

Oct 3, 2015
So this got shoved to one side because making those blocks was boring.
Then I started the Around the Bases KAL and thought, “I should finish Krissie’s blanket in this.” So, switching channels here.
Three and a half blocks done, but I think there are too many plain rows, so I’ll frog some back and then I’ll finish the fourth and then add one of the ATB innings to each and then join them.
And then skip the lacy row because that’s what screws with my flatness, and just start doing the rows. It’s beautiful yarn with lots of color changes, so that’ll be fun. Although adding in some other colors would be fun, too. Hmmm. Maybe some blues? She likes teals, too. Must cogitate.

Original pattern for the blocks:
Hæklet Tørklæde
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/hklet-trklde-2

So I’m adding in a second Jojoland colorway, which is great, and I did two rows of stacked shells, one around each square and then one around the joined squares, and I added a flower in the middle, and now I’m picking up on the ATB pattern with the popcorn row. Loving this and Krissie is going to adore it because it’s her favorite colors. So YAY, finally solved this one.

Oct. 18:
Loving the way this is turning out.
I frogged a sweater I was working on that wasn’t right, and I’m using the yarn from that--a combination of Hawthorne and Palette--for accents on this. Very, very happy with all the yarn and love the pattern.

OLD PLAN
Oct 2, 2014: Big problem with Krissie’s Christmas present: This pattern is free, but the charts have disappeared from the Wayback Machine. Fortunately, I already had some squares done for another afghan so, reverse engineering the instructions:

Center flower:
Make a chain circle (I chained 4, but it’s tight). Slip stitch into loop, then sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc, slip stitch (petal made; ch 1 make next petal for a total of five petals.

Then (again, trying to reverse engineer this so not completely sure), working on the back of the flower, ch 2, slip stitch into center ring of flower, four times (four loops made).

(If you’re going to change color for the flowers, change here.)

Then slip stitch into one of the ch 2 space loops, ch 2/2dc/ch2/3dc to make first corner, move to next ch 2 sp (don’t add a chain, this is a solid row of dc) and 3dc/ch2/3dc to make the second corner, repeat twice more for the last two corners, slip stitch into top of first dc. Each side is 6dc with a ch2 corner loop.

Square:
First round: 6 dc per side as described above.
Second Round: 10 dc per side ((corners worked in ch 2 spaces are 2dc/ch2/2dc, so 2 dc in ch 2 sp, dc in next six dc, 2dc ch 2 in ch 2 sp, repeat three times, slip stitch in top of first dc)
Third Round: 14 dc per side
Fourth Round: 18 dc
Fifth Round: 22 dc
Sixth Round: 26 dc

I think.

I’m supposed to have 23 skeins of this, but I can only find nineteen, so I’m going with that. I’m getting about four squares to three skeins which doesn’t seem like a lot, so that’ll get me about twenty-five squares. Each square is 8” unblocked, so that 40” x 40”. I’m going to need a lot more yarn to get a 45” square, so maybe Cascade 220?
